Bundles Launch
It’s that time of year again when Castlemartyr GAA are reaching out to club members and friends as this week sees the club launch their fundraising bundles.
Gold, silver and bronze packages are available at a cost of €480, €360 and €240 respectively. The bundles include club membership and also membership for the younger generation of Kiltha Og and Castlemartyr camogie club. There is also the opportunity to win one of the many prizes on offer in the Rebel Bounty GAA draw and the local lotto here in Castlemartyr.
It’s year 3 of this club initiative and so far your support has been instrumental in seeing facilities develop greatly. But work is ongoing and the imminent addition of a new All Weather training pitch will be a massive boost to all in the club. Thus, as the club stands on the doorstep of its Centenary year in 2024, it’s crucial to keep up the great momentum of recent years.
So we ask all members from last year to please support your local club’s ongoing efforts to continue its recent productive work. For those who haven’t previously signed up – please seriously consider joining this year.
Castlemartyr GAA Club committee members will be delighted to furnish all interested parties with full details of this innovative membership package over the next few weeks. – Many thanks again to all in anticipation of your support.
Club Committees
Last week’s well attended club meeting saw the formation of two new sub committees to deal with specific projects.
Centenary Committee – to plan ahead for celebratory 2024 events
Club Plan – to create a simple plan with a central focus on the clubhouse.
Can anyone who wasn’t at the meeting let us know what sub committee you’d like to be on – please contact Mike Falahee or Mick Caroll.
Lotto Results
Last Monday’s lotto results saw 1, 9, 10 and 24 as the numbers drawn. No overall winner but €25 on the way to Chloe O’Dwyer, Teresa Moran, Margaret O’Sullivan, Joe Stack and Bernadette O’Brien. This Monday’s jackpot is up to €8,500.
Last Wednesday Walking Night
This Wednesday is our final night of Castlemartyr Lights Up – so get spring off to an active start by joining us between 7pm and 8pm. Remember the opportunity exists seven days a week to use this facility during daylight hours. All welcome to stroll around in peaceful, tranquil surroundings. Thanks to all who have joined us over the last four weeks and looking forward to seeing you throughout the course of the year at Paddy Walsh Memorial Park.
East Cork Fixtures
News from last week’s opening East Cork Board meeting of the year tells us that our JFL Final held over from last season will be played on Sunday February 26th with the JHL hurling decider between the same two clubs taking place on the following weekend. These will actually mark the start dates for his year’s leagues and will give both Castlemartyr and Cloyne the opportunity to pick up early season silverware on the double. So, plenty of incentive going into the opening competitive games of the season at junior level.
We should have news of the various junior hurling and football league sections and fixtures in the near future.
Inter County
Best of luck to Ciarán as the Allianz Hurling League season gets under way with Cork taking on Limerick this Saturday night at Pairc UI Chaoimh. Ciarán was announced as brand ambassador for Kia Motors Midleton over the weekend when he was presented with the keys of a KIa Ceed by Seamus Lawton.
Cork’s Allianz League journey takes them to Galway and Clare with home games against Westmeath and Wexford to follow Saturday’s highly attractive opener against the All Ireland Champions.
Great also to see Mike Kelly included in the extended squad who will train together over the next few months.
Social Media
We have a great photo gallery from our recent Dinner Dance on social media, whilst there are two pages of social pics on this week’s Midleton & District News.
