Match Time Again!

It’s almost match time again with the competitive season set to get underway this coming weekend when Castlemartyr footballers are doubly involved.
First up on Saturday afternoon, it’s a trip to Carraig na bhFear for the opening game in the junior football League – division 1. – Never an easy place to visit, Carraig’ are bidding for three in a row success in this competition, having been the outstanding league team over the past few years. It’s a 2.30pm start and of course, is the club’s first game under the much talked about new football rules. The very experienced Pa O’Driscoll of Bride Rovers will take charge of what should be an interesting hour. Next fixture is our first home game against Erin’s Own on March 2nd.

Under 21 Championship

On this Sunday, our Under 21 footballers make their bow in the championship, when they meet Glenville at Paddy Walsh Memorial Park at 2pm. With home advantage, hopefully there will be good support for the reds in what will be a testing assignment against a Glenville side that defeated Aghada yesterday in their preliminary round game. The Under 21 championship is straight knock out this season, with the winners moving to the semi final a week later. Our best wishes go with the team.
