Intermediate Hurling
Next up for our Intermediate hurlers is a game against Cloughduv at Paddy Walsh Park on this coming Sunday morning – throw in 11.30am. It’s our penultimate game of the campaign with just the away trip to Midleton to follow. Please support the team in this important fixture.
Junior Hurling
This evening’s JBHL2 encounter resulted in a 3-13 to 1-15 victory over visitors Aghada which keeps Castlemartyr in the mix for a place in the final.
The state of play at the moment is that Cloyne top the group with 11 points, followed by Midleton on 10 points and ourselves now on 9 after our latest win. Whilst we finish with an away game in Watergrasshill on this Friday evening – 7.30pm, Cloyne’s last game is against Midleton next Monday evening.. The top two teams will automatically contest the decider.
Played under blazing sunshine, the Bank Holiday Monday clash saw the reds lead by 2-8 to 0-8 at the interval. Colm Beausang again made his mark on the edge of the square with goals in the 7th and 14th minutes. Niall Morgan, Cian Murphy, Darrgah Cashman and Darragh Joyce had found the range with points in the opening thirty minutes, with Aghada also registering some very impressive long range scores, despite shooting a number of late wides.
A sluggish Castlemartyr start to the second period saw the visitors post four unanswered points before a point by Eoin Cashman and a quick follow up goal from Corner Ronayne steadied the challenge. With Eoin Ronayne, Odhann Cantwell and Dave Lawton showing up well in defence and Niall Morgan busy in the middle third, a reasonably comfortable victory looked on the cards. However, a controversial late Aghada goal trimmed the margin back to a one score game before Darragh Joyce’s late tap over point ensured a fourth brace of league points. Cloyne’s win on day one remains the only defeat of the campaign.
Team – Derek Bowens, Odhrann Cantwell, Eoin Ronayne, Charlie O’Neill, Dave Lawton, Darragh Joyce, Niall O’Donovan, Mike Cosgrave, Niall Morgan, Darragh Cashman, Conor Whyte, Conor Ronayne, Cian Murphy, Colm Beausang and Ewan Wimpenny. Sub – Eoin Cashman
Scorers – Colm Beausang 2-0, Niall Morgan (0-5 incl 0-3 frees) Conor Ronayne 1-0, Cian Murphy 0-3, Darragh Joyce (0-3 incl 0-2 frees), Darragh Cashman and Eoin Cashman 0-1 each.

Congrats To Leahy Family
Congrats to our own Mick Leahy and all the Leahy family who were celebrating at the weekend after Jack helped Cork be crowned All Ireland Under 20 champions. Jack was in top form scoring four points on his return to the starting fifteen to help the rebels secure a 14th title at this level. Congrats and well done Jack.
Date For The Diary
Mark this date in the diary – the return of the Abernethy Cup. It’s a competition which has taken a variation of formats in recent years, but hasn’t been played since the covid outbreak. Now it’s back with a highly attractive one off game – Imokilly v Ballygunner in Castlemartyr on Monday July 3rd – more details to follow.
Imokilly 2023
Imokilly footballers and hurlers got a pre championship boost last week with the announcement of a new sponsorship deal with green energy company DP Energy. The footballers begin their campaign against Muskerry in Carrigtwohill this Thursday evening, whilst the hurlers won’t be in action until late August. Best of luck to all our players involved with both panels and to the divisional teams for the season. See attached photo image of Mike Kelly and Ciarán Joyce who were present at the new jersey launch.
Exam Time
Finally the very best of luck to all our students sitting state exams this week – see ye soon back on the playing fields.
